Light Houses and Ruins

Last night we slept over looking St Mary's Lighthouse near Whitley Bay
In the morning we saw a house that had a fire many years ago so it is now only ruins.
We looked around the grounds for sheep that told us the history of the house.

We found a play area

I pretended I was flying at the play area

We looked up from the cellars and it was the shape of a spiral.

We had lunch and then we went to see a second light house.

We were doing poses in front of the lighthouse.

There was an old lens from the lighthouse you could go inside.

We climbed up stairs and a ladder to get to the light that was working.  My mummy pushed the lens around even though it was heavier than our camper van. She could do this because the lenses were on top of a river of mercury.

Amos went into the light keepers bedroom and he dressed up.

Cragsides

We went to Cragsides but the house was shut because of a power cut. We had fun in the grounds though . . .

building dens

in the play area

climbing around the labyrinth.

Lindisfarne Castle

Today we left Edinburgh and started our journey back to England. We stopped and had a look around the castle.

That's me in the gunpowder room.

I wrote a postcard saying, "I came to Lindisfarne Castle because I like castles."

The Kelpies

Today we went to see the Kelpies that are outside of Edinburgh. They are giant 30 metre sculptures of mythical water horses.

We all had a go at drawing what they looked like under water.

There were also Lego versions in the gallery.

We played in the water

and afterwards we played in the play area.

Easter Sunday on the beach

Today was really hot so we spent Easter day on the beach.

Before we left we found the eggs the Easter bunny had left.

My brother tried to bury me.

When we got back to the campervan we had a BBQ, my favourite bit was toasting the marshmallow bunnies.

Science Festival

After camping in Edinburgh we caught a bus to the science festival.

We watched Little Giants that was about bees and how important they are to pollinate plants.

The next workshop I did on my own. It was a chemistry workshop where I made yellow slime.

Me and Amos then made Lego models to go on the big moon landscape.

My last workshop was making circuits with electro dough & click together circuits.

It was a great day.

Newhailes House

We then carried on up to Scotland and went to a big house called Newhailes. Me and my brother did an Easter Egg Hunt where we had to find different hats.

We found all of the hats and won an Easter Egg.

Holy Island

After Fountains Abbey we got in the campervan and travelled up to a campsite looking over Holy Island.

When we woke up we found out our van had a puncture. Luckily there was a super hero on a quad bike at the campsite who had the working tools to change our tyre.

On Holy Island when the tide is in you can't get to the Island. Magically when the tide goes out a road appears!

We drove on to the Island and played on the beach. We could see the castle from where we were playing.

Fountains Abbey

After staying with Tom & Zak in Skipton we headed of with them to Fountains Abbey.

Where we met up with other friends Charlotte & Rose.

We did lots of walking, playing and den building.

We played hide & seek in the ruins. My brothers hiding spot was so brilliant that he won the game! Me, mummy & Charlotte did not win the game we were the first to be found.

I had lots of fun with all my friends.

East Riddlesden Hall

Our first stop was East Riddlesden Hall. Where we met up with friends and searched for the little mice that were hidden in the rooms.

Played giant Connect Four

Made nature crowns using leaves and pine cones.

Our Edinburgh adventure begins . . .

The Easter holidays have started and we are off in the campervan to Scotland visiting friends on the way.
